SUMMER SCHOOL " FACING WITH THE PAST "

The Humanitarian Law Centar ( Belgrade, Serbia and Montenegro ), in cooperation with Documenta - Centar for dealing with the past ( Zagreb, Croatia ) and Research and Documentation Center ( Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina ) held the summer school for Facing with the Past from July 12-18 2005. in Kopaonik. The school addressed Tranzitional Justice in postconflict societies. Students and NGO activists from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro, and Kosovo were selected through competitive processes. There were 37 participants including 6 students and 4 NGO activists from Serbia and Montenegro; 2 representatives from Kosovo; 6 students and 5 NGO activists from Bosnia and Herzegovina; 5 students and 2 NGO activists from Croatia; and 7 representatives of the Humanitarian Law Centar. The objective of the school was to introduce this selected group of university students and civil activists with the concepts, mechanisms, and dilemmas of dealing with the past in post-conflict societies. Participants were introduced to the work of ICTY, as well as to other regional courts in the region which will   continue the work of ICTY after it ceases to exist. All the participants successfully completed the school and received certificates from the organizers.
